ProWiki is a wiki engine implemented in Perl. Configuration is done in subpages, so parts of a hierarchical ProWiki can have e. g. their own layout and access rights. This allows SubWikis that have their own index, recent changes and search focus.
ProWiki is an engine for very individual wiki projects. Best for wiki providers, initiators, hosts and - in general - for everybody who intends to have more than a single wiki for a single purpose.

Screenshots
These screenshots should give you a first impression how ProWiki looks like.
Remember: The look of many Wikis can be changed by stylesheets or templates
so these are only examples.

The D Programming Language
The D programming language is a great community project to develop a successor to C: native compilation, maximum performance, small footprint. The wiki serves as a knowledge repository side-by-side with a mailing-list for the daily communication.

OurCulture - open communities
ProWiki is used by many open online communities. They need ease of use because there can be no formal training of the users.

Individual Design
ProWiki makes it easy to create very individual designs. You are not bound to a set of skins. Experiment by activating different designs in different parts of your ProWiki. You can even have such HTML design templates in pages to be edited directly.

Unicode - simple translation
ProWiki support Unicode and a growing number of languages. Translation is done in a wiki page and becomes effective immediately. This is the Russian translation and the user interface of a multi-lingual school project.
